We Are Back!

After a two-year hiatus, we are rejuvenated and ready to share some stories, fly tying, and crushed reviews.  More importantly, we plan on getting into some more serious issues that directly affect not only fly fishing, but our everyday lives.  Yes, I’m talking about political issues that deal directly with the C word(s).  That’s right… CLIMATE CHANGE.

Hopefully I didn’t scare you off, and please bear with me as I explain myself.  In the past, we have tried to keep CRO Flies’ social media out of all the political noise.  Not entirely sure why, but I guess it’s due to how passionate people get when discussing such things.   We never want to ostracize anyone and we certainly don’t want to argue.   However, I feel that we, as outdoor enthusiasts, have a duty to be stewards of the land.  It doesn’t stop there! It is our (and your) job to educate those around us and to instill our passion of fly fishing in the next generation.  We hope and dream to not only keep the places that fly fishing takes us pristine and beautiful, but to help the sport prosper for our kids (and our kids’ kids) to enjoy for years to come.  I believe now, more than ever, it is crucial that we step up our efforts.  Sadly, posting grip n’ grin pictures and picking up trash on the walk out of a stream isn’t enough anymore.

Sorry Josh… this isn’t going to cut it anymore!

So this is where we currently stand.   In an effort to avoid being hypocrites, as well as to avoid becoming the grumpy elitist jerks that no one wants to be around, we feel it necessary to share our thoughts and findings with you.  It is time we break our silence and we hope you join us in doing so.

Please feel free to share our posts and also comment (whether you agree or disagree), BUT please be respectful.  We know people have varying ideologies so it is understood that we may not be on the same page.  Any comment towards us or anyone else that we deem as disrespectful will be removed…. Don’t be a Jerk.

I can assure you that we will still be posting our fish tales, fly tying instruction, and other light hearted posts along the way.  Just wanted to explain why we feel it necessary to sit back down at the laptop, and to give a heads up as to where we feel CRO Flies is headed.  We promise we won’t become too preachy.

Until next time, enjoy this picture of a beautiful wild brown trout caught in central PA.

Hey Fred! We are happy to be back too. If Josh ever wakes up from his food coma from over the holidays he should be back to posting as well. Don’t hold your breath though… he really went to town on that Christmas ham!

  1. Looking forward to seeing what you all are up too. Love the video I caught of you all on the Orvis Friday film festival trying to find a fishing spot. Forget what it was called.

Thanks Lance! You are thinking of “Off the Grid” from our Reasons We Fish series. Thats one of my favorites too… sometimes, due to our lack of “catching”, it’s easier to make video clips with zero fish in them, haha.
